The Extended Range Filter is a multi-band bandpass filter designed for integration in JTRS transceivers where small size, moderate selectivity and low power consumption are paramount.  It provides digitally tunable bandpass filtering from 30 to 450 MHz.

Interface and Control Notes:

Interface Options

The filter comes standard with a 3-wire Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI).

DC Control Interface Characteristics

Switching Characteristics

Vcc = +5VDC, ± 10%; T= -40 to +70°C

Chip Select/Load

The filter is tuned to the frequency designated by the tuneword sent on the Serial Data In (SDI) control line, which is clocked in by the Serial Clock (SCK) line most significant bit (MSB) first while the Chip Select/Load () line is held low.  After the tuneword is sent, the filter is tuned by returning the Chip Select/Load line high.  Maximum clock rate for SCK is 2 MHz and tune time is <100 mS.

RF Power Handling Capability

The filters are designed to operate with RF input power levels up to 250 milliwatts inband.  Signals in the filter stopband up to 5 Watts at the input will not cause damage to the filter.

Temperature Effects

Over the –40 to +70°C temperature range, filters will exhibit a temperature drift of less than 80 PPM/°C, or a total of less than ±0.5% of the center frequency.
